❌ No snacking - it’s best to allow at least 4hrs in between meals to really optimize motility in the gut via the migrating motor complex (MMC) 💩
🍭 Avoid processed sugar (and sugar alcohols)- those methane and hydrogen producing bugs LOVE sugar, and if you starve them from it they will die☠️ (what we want!)
🌿 Utilize digestive bitters or enzymes - this boosts stomach acid to help kill off overgrown bacteria and improves digestion
⏳ SLOW DOWN and chew your food - remember, digestion begins in the mouth! chewing more increases your body’s own production of stomach acid increases digestion & absorption
🥑 Temporary therapeutic diet plans such as low FODMAP or an elimination diet - it can be really helpful to remove foods that are irritating to the gut/gut lining, hard to digest, or ones that may fuel the growth of those unwanted bacteria
🧄 Follow an antimicrobial herbal protocol recommended to you by your healthcare practitioner - we remove the infections, replace them with digestive enzymes, reinoculate with probiotics, repair the gut lining, and rebalance the microbiome (IFM’s 5R protocol)
