So, how do test for SIBO? šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

The standard test is a 3hr lactulose breath testšŸ§Ŗ meaning that you drink this sugary solution and capture your breath over 3 hours to see what gases those little bacteria in your gut are producing. The primary gases we look for are methane, hydrogen, & hydrogen sulfide.šŸ«§

However, there are also evidence-based indicators on the GI Map (see my previous videos for details on this test) that can also indicate not only SIBO but other players that may be further contributing to the SIBOā€¼ļøā¬…ļøTHIS is what alooooot of practitioners miss when treating with a SIBO-specific protocol and why some people donā€™t end up getting reliefšŸ˜©.

āœØTreating SIBO is multi-faceted and complex, but the functional approach is to start by addressing those methane and/or hydrogen-producing bacteria AND ALSO treat any other underlying gut issues that may have caused the SIBO to happen in the 1st place.āœØ

Underlying issues may include things like:

+GERD/heartburn

+Constipation and motility issues

+Inflammation

+Low immunity

+Deficient normal flora

+Parasites

+H. Pylori

+Candida, fungi, and yeast

+Leaky gut

+pH imbalance

In my next post, weā€™ll dive into some helpful nutritionšŸ„‘ & lifestylešŸ‘Ÿ interventions that worked for me and for some of my clients!ā˜ŗļø
