I’ve noticed that a lot of us are uncomfortable with just taking a second to be present with all the chaos and beauty of life. We fill silence with noise 🔊, we ignore our thoughts by staying busy 📆, and we’re so disconnected with our own bodies because we’re trying to stay connected to everyone else in some way 💻.
2 years ago I had a strong desire to do something different in my life; to be more present, more grateful, more aware of myself and my surroundings. So I purchased a meditation course (@zivameditation) and jumped in head first.
Sure, it was hard.
I never ‘emptied my mind’ or ‘stopped thinking thoughts’. 💭
Some days I really didn’t even want to do it, or thought “is this even worth it”?
But, here we are, 2 years later and I can tell you that it was 💯 worth it.
I’ve learned to be comfortable with the uncomfortable.
Comfortable with my own thoughts, comfortable with silence, comfortable with sitting still for 5-10 minutes. I’ve learned that there is ALWAYS something to be grateful for, and that every day looks a little different and that’s okay.
No matter what phase of life you’re in, or how much or how little experience you have with something like meditation or mindfulness🌿, you can experience these same positive benefits in your own life even without a formal practice. ✨
Just take a few minutes to close your eyes, take a few deep breaths, and just be present with that moment. ☺️💛
